Changing to an EV will reduce your carbon footprint.
Changing to an EV is the single biggest step to reducing emissions for most households.
Driving 100 kilometres on the average Australia EV using 18kWh of electricity from Victoria’s grid, the dirtiest in Australia, will make around 13 kilograms of CO2. Charging from a rooftop solar system or with green power from the grid will make 0 kilograms of CO2.
Driving 100 kilometres in the average petrol or diesel car using around 7 litres of fuel will make around 17.5 kilograms of CO2. Nothing can be done to reduce this.
Emissions from Australia’s electricity are continually reducing as we switch to renewable generation, so EVs will emit less and less CO2 over time.

What EV suits you?
There are lots of EVs available in Australia now.
Local Wangaratta dealers have offerings from Kia, Hyundai, Toyota with more coming.
More models are available in Wodonga, Albury and Sheparton.
Second hand EVs are available. Kilowatt Cars in Yackandandah is a localish source.

Charging in Wangaratta
Any powerpoint is a fueling station, so most EVs are charged with solar or off-peak electricity at home.
Wangaratta EV owners make inter and intrastate trips, and have learned the tricks of making long journeys.
There are chargers for all models opposite WPAC, and in The Co-Store carpark has charging for Telsas only.
The Glenrowan Service Centres have fast chargers for all models.
Plugshare shows most chargers in Australia, who can use them, how fast they are and if they’re available now.
